By Hungarian family statistics at least 350 thousand families exist where one single parent brings up a child or children. Their number is increasing and they raise more than half million children.  27% of all children are brought up by a single parent. All together there are almost one million people directly involved in this phenomenon. 85% of 350 thousand single parent families are women.
These figures show that  ’family as basic institution of society’ has changed during the last decades.  As concerning  single parent families several prejudices, old stereotypes  and hypocrisy exist.  People’s attitudes in general are rather blame-full instead of supporting towards these families.
The Foundation  wants to create new value approach and supporting social environment to these families and parents and change the style of public discourse about these families. We consider this proposal as a decisive first step which will be followed by several others in order to achieve  a helping and supportive social atmosphere around single parent families.
Our proposal is a continuation and further development and extension of the already existing program of the Single Parent Families Foundation.
The main goal of our project is to contribute to gender equality for single parent families through sharing experiences and knowledge transfer with Norwegian partners . To achieve this we would organize conference and workshops to use innovative tools form Norway for single parent families, organize visits to institutions,  experts and families in both countries to get clearer picture of the situation of these families.  We initiate charity activities before Christmas for single parent families in need and launch an international networking to create partnership with other foreign organizations with the help of diplomatic circles. Synopsis will be prepared to get ready with a proposal for the next programming period of the Norway Grant as well as a strategy for the Foundation.
