The main goal of the initiative is to improve the employment opportunities of women so as to reduce gender inequality in the labour market. The implementation of educational programs for women is one of the best ways to promote gender equality. The potential impact of these programs extends beyond the improved labour market situation of women as their high employment rate has an overall positive economic effect for society as a whole.
In the framework of the 6-month initiative, Bifröst University and Corvinus University of Budapest will launch, for the first time, a bilateral cooperation. First, a study visit will be organised to Iceland where partners will learn about each other’s academic and training programs and share knowledge and know-how regarding online education tools.
In the first phase of the project, the main goal will be to collect, analyse and publish an online catalogue of best practices, including 2-4 case studies from both countries. The publication will showcase state-of-art educational training models that encourage the entrepreneurship of women by enabling them to start their own business and to improve their career management skills.
The second phase will be dedicated to dissemination. Partners will present the catalogue to relevant stakeholders during a conference in Budapest. The event will provide a platform to discuss the relevance and adaptability of foreign best practices, with the active participation of Hungarian experts, educators and representatives of NGOs. It is important to extend existing educational programs with online modules so as to make training opportunities accessible to more women, especially to those living in rural areas or having limited time to attend on-site courses.
This initiative will also be a great opportunity for the two universities to identify further areas of common interest in view of developing collaborative new projects and more in-depth studies together in the future.
