Today, parental leave in Hungarian context means maternity leave. In other words, parental leave is typically used only by mothers and paternity leave is quite rare. This puts Hungarian women in vulnerable position on the labor market and leads to disadvantages for women's career. This reproduces inequailities on the labor market (pay gap, glass ceiling, labor market segregation). The goal of family care and child care is to increase population growth but in Hungary population growth is still lower than expected.
The aim of the bilateral contribution with the donor partner (Norwegian Center for Human Rights) is to gain deeper understanding of Nordic childcare model and collect good practices. We aim to conduct a study and a recommendation collection as a basis for Hungarian decision makers to evolve potential policies in order to further develop the childcare system.
Within the framework of the project, we also aim to conduct a public service ad in form of a video which popularize paternity leave.
High priority in the program is to build an expert network for further joint work and researches.
